Toddlers and Social Media

There once was a time when I thought "toddlers" were 2-3 year olds. I have been mistaken. My 18 month definitely toddles. And climbs. And gets in to everything, all day long. She also doesn't play with toys that often. She would prefer an iPhone or a laptop. And if neither of those are available then a remote will do. She's definitely a child that requires a lot of attention from mommy. And mommy's attention is always devoted to social media.

Speaking of that...

Last night, I was on my phone doing something lame. Irelyn kept climbing in my lap & pushing my phone out of my face. I kept snapping at her and putting her down. She needed my attention & I was playing Criminal Case. A Facebook game was more important than my daughter. Now I don't do that subconsciously but it was happening!

So I decided to do something about it.

I deleted all social media apps & games from my phone!! I'm doing a social media detox. Cold turkey.

I'm hoping to see specific results from this too. My house will be clean. My kid will go outside more. My husband and I will have conversations that I actually remember. I will get back to my blog. :) Yay for you!! I will join a gym. (I'm NOT super pumped about this!!)

And most importantly, I will be getting to know my Heavenly Father better and on a much more intimate level.

I can't wait to become a better wife, mother, friend and Christian over the next few weeks. Hopefully I'll be able to start a new blog series, #babybumpsins. God laid this on my heart several months ago. I've been "too busy" to work on it but I should be able to find the time now.

Keepin' it real in the dirty south...

Real hot & humid...
